the challenge. Stuck inside for a whole year, the nation was itching to get away. But with abroad holidays on hold, and limited soggy Welsh cottages available, things were looking hopeless. How could Alton Towers convince the nation to shake off the cobwebs, and trade up their staycation for a playcation?
the work. 'Britain's Greatest Escape'. 2020 had been humdrum at best, and we all needed an escape from it. Alton Towers is the one place in the UK that can guarantee families of all ages a good time, we simply had to remind people of that. Cue a rallying cry, with David Walliams at the fore, we created 3 pieces of OOH, TVC and online social videos that contrasted the boredom we'd all experienced, to what real thrills feel like at Alton Towers Resort.
the results. Both the Alton Towers Hotel and CBeebies Hotel became booked up until the end of August: the highest amount of overnight stops Alton Towers has ever seen. Looks like we all needed a bit of escapism.
